Loved this lecture from Dr. Emily Cotter on the topic of Trauma-Informed Palliative Care. We often learn about disease processes, but I’m excited for a lecture that challenges the framework through which we provide palliative care.
L. Emily Cotter, MD, MPH, is a family physician and palliative care clinician. She practices at the University of New Mexico working in both inpatient and outpatient settings and has recently added the responsibility of Interim Division Chief and the Associate Program Director for the UNM Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship. Professional interests include trauma-informed care, health equity and social justice, global health, cultivating compassion in the clinical encounter, and education of medical learners. When not at work, she loves spending time with her spouse and toddler, running, and enjoying the beautiful New Mexican landscapes.
