Our best series of lectures yet continues with Elizabeth Clappin, BA, MFA presenting her lecture titled “Back to the Garden: Contemporary Reflections on the Lessons Historic Cemeteries and Mourning Culture Can Provide to Palliative Care Providers.” 

Elizabeth Clappin is an architectural historian who specializes in cemeteries and funerary architecture. She is a trustee of the Association for Gravestone Studies and is their Digital Program Coordinator. She is employed as an Urban Planner by the City of Atlanta Historic Preservation Studio, and in addition to historic design review, oversees the city’s programming and policies for their 90 historic cemeteries. Since 2019 she has hosted a podcast on the history and culture of American cemeteries called Tomb with a View.
